Heritage: George Hoyos was married to Alice Whitehead and was son-in-law & business partner to Robert Whitehead.

Robert was a British engineer who, with the hopes of "ending war", invented the first self-propelled torpedo. He was also the great-grandfather to the von Trapp children and grandfather to their mother, Agathe Gobertina Whitehead.

George was an officer in the Austrian-Hungarian Navy before he joined Robert's first manufacturing factory in Fiume within the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, today located in Rijeka, Croatia.

George was instrumental on the business side, allowing Robert to more time on his invention. Later as Robert's son, John, joined the form, they also were partners.
